Conservative Action for Electoral Reform welcomes AV for the House of Lords but pushes STV for the Lords
Following the Con/Lib’s declaration on electoral reform, Janice Small, director of CAER, said: “CAER welcomes the coalition's commitment for electoral reform under the AV system and will campaign for this.
“We have long campaigned for a fully elected Upper House and again welcome the coalition’s proposals. CAER will campaign for the single transferable voting system (STV) as the most proportional system for the Lords as recognised in the 2005 cross party document: Reforming the House of Lords: Breaking the Deadlock signed by Ken Clarke, George Young and William Hague”.ENDS
